I have been wanting this palette for so long. I first came across it in February when I went to New York and had to pick between the Too Faced – Chocolate Bar palette and the Urban Decay – Naked 2 palette… I went with the Naked one as I simply was more attracted to the natural and smoky tones within it at the time, but as my love for make up has grown so has my desire to try new things e.g. colour.
First of all the design:
The packaging of this palette is stunning. I want to keep the box it comes in forever, the design on it is so cute and girly, I can’t describe why I love it, I just do, all the little details on it make it so different from any other brand. I also have the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara which is my favourite mascara where design is concerned so Too Faced clearly know how to sell their products through looks alone to me that’s for sure!
The product design is beautiful as well, the fact that it looks like a chocolate bar and smells like a chocolate bar but isn’t a chocolate bar is cruel but wonderful at the same time. It is so unique to anything i’ve seen before and that’s what I love about it. I’m pretty sure Too-Faced updated the design of this palette when they brought out the Semi-Sweet version since I know the old design didn’t used to have names above the shadows which I would’ve called a flaw as it is annoying having to look at the box for the names of the colours but that no longer is an issue, hooray! There is also a fantastically large mirror built into the palette which is very useful to me as i’m always doing my makeup in different places and don’t always have a mirror on me unless i’ve got my trusty palette on me.
The only thing that concerns me ever so slightly about this product is that the way it closes is through magnetism instead of clasping shut like my other palettes. I’m only worried about travelling with it and it coming open, however this hasn’t happened yet so I could just be being paranoid. Therefore, I rate the product design of the Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette 10/10.
The Product Itself:
I have used this product 3 times now, each time in a different way, and I have loved it every time. The colours are so pigmented that a little goes a long way. Every single one of the colours are beautiful; there are a mixture of matte and shimmery colours which I love since the Naked 2 palette only has 2 or 3 matte colours.
The variation of colour in this palette is perfect to me, the combinations between colours are infinite without going too bizarre. The warm ‘chocolatey’ shades blend together to make the most beautiful, soft, natural look with a bit of shimmer to spice things up. This palette offers everything from the potential to create a sophisticated, day-time, natural look to a party, going out, evening look.
