How Much Does My Face Cost?

You may have read posts like this before, I was actually inspired by another blogger who happens to be my brother’s girlfriend, Melissa, to do this post (you can read her ‘How Much Does My Face Cost?’ post here). If you haven’t read anything like this then what I’m going to be doing today is going through the products I use in my daily makeup routine and listing them with their prices, then at the end i’m going to add all the prices up for a grande total to see how much money I’m actually slapping on my face…

I will admit I’m quite wary about doing this and I feel the realisation of how much I spend on just my daily makeup may shock me slightly. As a small disclaimer I just want to say that just because I use a lot of products doesn’t mean I use a lot of makeup itself. Makeup is my hobby, and frankly is what I spend most of my disposable income on, I understand that not every one is the same in that sense and I hope you do to. So with that intro out the way, let’s begin!

I have organised my calculations into the stages I go through when applying my makeup.

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer – £25.50
Chanel Vita Lumière Foundation – £36.00
Mac Select Cover-Up Concealer – £15.50
Bourjois Happy Light Concealer – £8.99
Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed powder – £3.99
Benefit ‘Dallas’ Bronzer – £23.50
Benefit Watt’s Up! Face Highlighter – £24.50

Soap & Glory Archery 2-in-1 Brow Pencil & Brush – £8.00
Too Faced Chocolate Bar Eye Shadow Palette – £39.00
L’Oreal Paris Superliner Superstar – £6.99
Benefit Roller lash Mascara – £19.50
Collection Kohl Eye Liner – £1.99

Burt’s Bees Lip Balm – £3.49
Max Factor Colour Elixir Lip Liner ‘Brown and nude’ – £4.99
Mac Lipstick ‘Velvet Teddy’ – £15.50

Ok so that is my list of products that I use on a daily basis, time to add them up:

Skin = £137.98
Eyes = £75.48
Lips = £23.98

Total = £237.44

If I’m to be honest here I would say I’m not that surprised by my total. Yes it is a lot of money but considering only 40% of my products are from the drugstore and I use 15 products on average, I would say that’s reasonable. It’s also worth mentioning that I didn’t pay the full price for some of these products, a lot of them I got some discount off. However, I wanted to list their full price, not just because I can’t remember how much exactly I paid, but to show their worth. I absolutely love all the products in my daily makeup routine and I can’t think of one that I don’t think is worth it’s price. As you can see the majority of my products are high-end, that isn’t because I dislike drugstore products though, it is simply because that after years of trial and error these are the products that have resulted in suiting me.

Thank you for reading! I hope this blog post inspires you to calculate how much you are spending on your daily makeup as Melissa’s did to me!
