My 2015 Favourites!

Hello and welcome to my first post of 2016! I hope you had a fabulous new year and are enjoying this year so far. I didn’t feel like I could start this year without talking about my favourite products of 2015, especially since it has been a big year for me with regards to accumulating a lot of new makeup. My obsession with make up has definitely become much stronger this year after not having much of an interest in it before.
For this post I have basically gone about the way I do my makeup and picked my favourite product to do a certain part of it. So this post will include everything from my favourite primer to my favourite eyeshadow palette etc.
Here are my absolute fave products of 2015, enjoy!

Primer – Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer

This primer has changed the way I do my makeup completely. I literally can not do my makeup without it since the day I started using it. It makes an incredible difference for me as I have prominent pores. I am so happy I picked this product up as not only does it make my makeup stay on all day and look better, it also gives me more self confidence with my pores looking visibly smaller and my foundation and concealer not seeping into them. Amazing is all I have to say about this product.

Foundation – Chanel Vitalumière Foundation

I wrote about this product in September saying how it was my ‘holy grail foundation for dry skin’ and to no surprise it still is. Months have gone by and i’m still obsessed with this foundation. It gives a light to medium coverage which is what you want to look for if you have dry skin so that it doesn’t cling on to those pesky dry patches. It also is nice and dewy and therefore doesn’t dry on the skin, instead it gives a gorgeous healthy glow. I have had this foundation just over 5 months now and I’m only a quarter of the way through, it is definitely worth the money therefore, especially if you struggle with dry skin. Concealer – Mac Select Cover-up Concealer

Like the Chanel foundation, this is my holy grail concealer and I have been using it for years now.  No other concealer I have tried compares, and I have tried a lot… I know this concealer doesn’t work for everyone as it isn’t super high coverage and is more medium, but I absolutely love it. When i’m in a rush sometimes I will just slap this on under my eyes and on my nose because it does the trick to give me an even coverage that enables me to have enough self confidence to walk out the door.

Powder – Nars Pressed Powder

I mentioned this powder in a favourites somewhere. I got this when I went to New York last February, wasn’t sure about it, stashed it away and then brought it back out again much later and loved it – weird how that happens… It is a really good powder for me, I also own the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder and I can definitely tell the difference between the two. It makes my makeup stay on much longer than without the powder, it also doesn’t go on too heavy either and therefore keeps my makeup looking natural. The only negative I have to say about this product is that I hit the pan way too quickly and it has pretty much run out now, cry.

Mascara – Benefit Rollar Lash

This was the first ever beauty post I did on my blog and my opinion on it hasn’t changed what so ever.  It is a total game changer of a mascara. If you have stubborn, straight lashes that hold no curl whatsoever then look no further, Benefit has the cure for you! Even if you aren’t cursed with straight-as-a-plank-of-wood lashes like I do then you will still love this mascara. I never knew a mascara could make such a difference to my makeup until I came across this wonderful product. I’m a big fan of Benefit but this is by far my favourite product of theres EVER. I’m actually off to re-purchase this mascara at the end of this month as mine has run out and I am absolutely gutted after having to go back to the life of stickmen for lashes… If you want to read my full review of this product click here.

Eyebrows – Soap & Glory Brow Archery

I used this product throughout 2015 and still do! In fact, I can’t use any other brow product now as they just don’t compare! The colour matches my hair perfectly and lasts all day and night. I find the the fact that it has a spooly on one end especially useful as it really does work to tame my brows from bushes into their natural eyebrow shape. I would love to try the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz as i’ve heard it’s the same but better! The only problem I have with the Brow Archery is that it runs out too quickly!

Eyeliner – L’oreal Superstar Perfect Slim

I have always been a fan of L’oreal eyeliners, they are what converted me to preferring the use of pen applicators rather than a brush or anything else for that matter. After repurchasing the Superstar Superliner from L’oreal multiple times, I then decided to try something slightly different.  To my surprise, I prefer this one to the Superstar liner, it has a finer nib which means I can get my eyeliner to look extra sharp and clean (or at least I can try..). I’m pretty sure it has the same formula to the Superstar liner, just a different pen design.

Eyeshadow Single – Kiko single eyeshadow in ‘Infinity’

This was actually one of my more recent purchases, but without a doubt is sure to be included within my favourites. Towards the end of 2015 I definitely became more adventurous with my makeup, trying out new things, this eyeshadow included. It is a beautiful oceanic blue with a hint of sparkle to it as well – a major bonus if you’re like me and think sparkles just make everything better. Since I have blue eyes I decided this would look good on my lower lid when I’m wearing cool tones on my upper lid, which I often do. It makes my eyes pop more without being too overpowering. It isn’t super pigmented which I like as I didn’t want it to be super duper bright and crazy. I’m so happy I purchased this shadow, not to mention it only cost me £2 in a sale at Kiko!

Eyeshadow Palette – Too Faced Chocolate Bar

I have accumulated many eyeshadow palettes over 2015, this one however was the one that made the biggest difference in my makeup routine. I did a full review on it actually at the beginning of last September. It harbours one of my everyday makeup looks in it. My absolute favourite shades in it are ‘Milk Chocolate’, ‘Semi-Sweet’ and ‘Marzipan’. Although I have my favourites, all the colours in this palette are amazing, there really isn’t one that I don’t use. They are all super pigmented but have no fall out, I can’t fault them if i’m honest. I’m looking to purchase the Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar palette next simply because the quality of Too-Faced’s eyeshadows is incredible. Drugstore Lipstick – Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipstick in ‘Rosewood’

This lipstick has also cropped up in a few posts of mine, here and there. I got it in Spring of 2015 and have used it so much since then. Considering it is from a drugstore brand, it is such good quality! I also find I like the smell of it? Sounds weird but there are some drugstore lipsticks that just don’t smell nice at all. The colour lasts all day and is a really gorgeous nude shade that can be worn daily or for a night out. It gives your lips a healthy shine but not still looks natural which I love.

High-end Lipstick – Mac Amplified ‘Craving’

I picked this lipstick up in New York, completely unaware as to how in love I would fall with it. Now a’ days I do a lot of research as to what lipsticks I purchase however this one was totally an on-the-spot decision. The colour is beautiful and is one of my favourite formulas from Mac. I honestly blame this lipstick for starting the obsession I have with lipsticks now, it made me realise how much a lipstick can bring a whole look together.

Brushes – Zoeva Luxe Silk Finish, Zoeva Luxe soft Definer, Zoeva Luxe Petit Crease

Obviously there is a trend with my favourite brushes for 2015, and that is simply because Zoeva brushes are simply fabulous. I love every single one I own, however these are the 3 that have a special place in my heart. The silk finish brush applies my foundation evenly leaving it with a smooth-as-‘silk’ finish, blending it into the skin takes hardly any time at all. The soft definer brush and petit crease brush work so well together, both aid in my eyeshadow application massively making the job so much quicker and easier. All the brushes are incredibly soft and wash very well, one of my best purchases of 2015.

Nails – Barry M Sunset Daylight Curing Nail Polish

Not only is this my favourite nail polish of 2015, but it is my favourite nail polish of all time. I own four shades of this collection, they are all so amazing though that I can’t pick a favourite! All I can say is you need to try these nail polishes because I promise you won’t be disappointed, they give you gel nails without the UV light at an affordable price, what more could you ask for?!

So there you have it! my favourite products of 2015, I really am looking forward to see what changes and what stays the same on this list at the end of this year! What are your 2015 favourites? let me know in the comments below!

Thanks for reading, and once again, I wish you a very Happy new Year,
